[edit] General Information

Official Guild Entry: "Hunted for their meat, which is buried under a thick, armored hide. Aggressive compared to the Aptonoth, hunting them can be a challenge. Apceros eggs are a valuable guild commodity."

Appearance: Quadrupedal and large with a large shell on their backs and a spiked tail. Coloration is a brown-red with a lighter toned stomach. Their heads have a short, beak-like snout and a single spike jutting from each side of its jaw. Bears a strong resemblance to the Ankylosaur.

Nature: Territorial and aggressive, Apceros will attack any nearby hunter, seems to be ignored by local predators due to their hard shells.

[edit] Combat

Apceros herds will attack any perceived threat on sight, first standing on their hind legs as a warning before charging at their target. In close quarters they will either ram their opponent with their hardened skulls or turn around to strike them with their spiked, club-like tails.

The shells on their back can deflect unsharpened weapons, their soft underside however is extremely vulnerable. Apceros are labeled as "annoying" monsters by some members of the MH community due to their extremely aggressive nature. The monster might knock you into a bigger monster's attack or interrupt a carve, or even go as far as to hit you when you're drinking a life-saving Potion in-between monster attacks.

[edit] Hunter's Tips

  • More of an annoyance than a threat, it is a good idea to slay these beasts if a larger monster is in the area.
  • Sometimes, large and particularly strong bones can be carved from them, as well as tasty raw meat which then can be barbecued and eaten to increase your hunter's stamina.
  • Suggested Weapons
    • Anything with green sharpness or better should be suitable against these creatures.

[edit] Carves

You can carve Apceros's two times. There are no exclusive G-rank carves (MHFU only) for this monster.
