First AppearanceMonster Hunter Frontier

Lavasioth (Japanese name: Volganos) is a new addition to Monster Hunter Frontier, Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G and Monster Hunter Freedom Unite. This creature swims in lava and is able to splash large amounts of magma at the surface as well as spit it out of its mouth. Once on land the Wyvern attacks those close to it by leaping high into the air, slamming down on those under it. It also flops onto stomach, sliding and squirming around, severely damaging whomever it hits.

This beast is a very tough kill, hiding in the lava and shooting giant balls of magma at you makes him annoying... Shock and Pitfall traps work on him. It is speculated that this is the lava sub-species of Plesioth, and is also classified as a Piscine.

[edit] Tips

  • The Lavasioth has a huge elemental weakness to water, and is highly resistant to fire.
  • There is a glitch in the game that allows ranged weapon users to stand at the southern entrance to area 10 and become out of reach to nearly any attack.
  • The Lavasioth starts with a very low resistance to paralysis, so a Felyne with paralysis attack practically guarantees atleast one paralysis per battle!
  • The Lavasioth could drop a shiny if you could KO it using a hammer. The shiny may yield wyvern sobs and wyvern tears.
  • The face and the back of the Lavasioth could be broken.
  • When Lavasioth is dead hunters may see a stub at its tail like the blos,it is noted that although it has a stub,it's tail can't be cut.

[edit] Signs Of Weakness

  • When weakened enough to be captured, it can be noted that the fiery coating of Lavasioth's skin vanishes. It is very easy to notice this and, as such, Lavasioth is very simple to successfully capture.

[edit] Armour

  • The Lavasioth Blademaster and Gunner armoursets are identical in terms of what they do, and both give the following skills : Guts, Focus, Terraindamagenegate and Combine Success -5%. The sets have 9 slots, including one 3-slot piece.
