Monster Hunter Freedom 2 is an Action Adventure PSP game, mainly modelled of the original PS2 game, Monster Hunter 2 (PS2). A sequel to this game, Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G (PSP) has been released as an expansion of Monster Hunter Freedom 2, boasting additional weapons, armour, monsters, quests and gameplay elements (such as Felyne Warriors).

The game features two more monsters in place of the Yama Tsukami, from Monster Hunter 2. They are the Tigrex and the Akantor. As well as this, there is also a differnet location of which the Hunter's residence is, changing from an Island, to within the snowy mountains.

MHF2 was extremely successful in Japan, and was the top-selling game of 2007.
