 Game Info
Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate (also known as Monster Hunter 3G and 3G HD in Japan) is an expansion of Monster Hunter Tri, and is the first Monster Hunter game to be released on a Nintendo handheld console. It is scheduled to be released on Wii U on the same day as the 3DS version, and will support 480p all the way up to "true" 1080p, as well as multiplayer through WiFi.
The 3DS version of the game also supports multiplayer for up to four hunters, although it's limited to local play.
Additionally, a demo was confirmed for both versions during Nintendo's Direct announcement on February 14th, 2013. It will be available for download on the eShop starting February 21st.
 The Story
You start out as a rookie hunter in Moga village. Shortly after arriving the village is struck by a powerful earthquake. It's thought that the Lagiacrus is the cause of these earthquakes. You are tasked with defeating the beast and saving the village from destruction.
To do this you have to hone your skills and build more powerful armor and weapons by hunting nearby weaker monsters and going on quests. On your way you encounter a shakalaka child named Cha-Cha who helps you throughout the rest of the game. He's on a quest to find the Ultimate Mask and become a shakalaka adult.
 The Plot Thickens
Shortly after you defeat the Lagiacrus, you not only find that your little buddy Cha-Cha has gone missing but the earthquakes haven't stopped. You're encouraged not to worry about the little tyke and continue on without him for a while. As you complete a few quests you get word of a possible shakalaka sighting in the Flooded forest and it's presented in the form of an urgent quest. When you get there you realize it isn't Cha-Cha, but another Shakalaka kid named Kayamba and he's in really big trouble. A brute wyvern by the name of Duramboros has made his home in the flooded forest and the shakalaka angered it. You're required to defeat the Brute Wyvern and save the shakalaka.
Kayamba accompanies you back to moga village, and he's on the same quest as Cha-Cha who's still nowhere to be seen. When he does come back, you learn that Kayamba and Cha-Cha "know" each other. They're on the worst of terms to start with. They say that they were sent out on the rite of passage together because the shakalaka village they were raised in was on a "low budget" that year. We might never know how it went down, but they both found the Ultimate Mask and a large flying wyvern swooped in a snatched it away. They blame each other for the mishap, and that's why they don't like each other.
Regardless of their feelings towards each other, they will still follow the hunter into battle and eventually warm back up to each other. Even if they don't like to admit it.
