Narugakaruga

Nargacuga (Japanese name: Narugakaruga) is a third generation boss monster and the flagship monster for the game Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G (PSP) and Monster Hunter Freedom Unite. It roughly resembles Tigrex in shape and size, with black fur and a small beak. He was introduced in Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G (PSP).

Despite the resemblance, Nargacuga moves in a much different way to Tigrex. While Tigrex uses attacks that are centered around charging and lunging, Nargacuga spends most of it's time leaping back and forth. Nargacuga also uses it's tail as a weapon, unlike Tigrex.

It should be noted that upon entering rage mode, Nargacuga will actually attack automatically before roaring, after which his eyes will begin to glow a bright red and will leave a temporary after glow behind them. During rage mode, the spines on its tail, which act almost like a protective coating on the tail, are flayed open, making the tail open to direct damage.

This uniquely evolved Wyvern has chosen the lush trees of the old forest as it's home. Cunning and tenacious, it hides in the shadows and attacks with blinding speed. Its tail is so powerful, it can kill a medium-sized monster with one blow.
