Yama Tsukami is an enormous floating Elder Dragon that resides within the Ancient Tower. It first appeared in Monster Hunter 2, and later reappeared in Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G and Monster Hunter Freedom Unite. The monster's skin is covered with moss and wood, giving it a bright green outer color but the skin itself is a deep red. Its tentacles are capable of defying gravity and bodily fluids capable of concentrating draconic power and as such are greatly demanded by the guild for experimentation.

It is capable of spitting out clouds of Great Thunderbugs that explode after a expanding and contracting several times. It also sucks in attackers with a great whirlwind, and spits them out, killing hunters instantly.

[edit] Tips

Yama Tsukami is elementally weak to Dragon and Ice, and his weakest areas are his Mouth and Eyes.

The 'Guts' skill is a very helpful skill against this foe, as it is a failsafe if you get caught by Yama's vacuum attack.

You are able to tranquilize Yama by throwing Tranq Bombs at it when it does the vacuum attack. It takes two the first time, three the second time and so on. Doing this makes Yama collapse and gives melee users a lot of free hits to good hitzones.

Yama has a spin attack that can be avoided by sheathing your weapon and crouching down.

When Yama did the whisker drop, you must deal some damage to make it do the wind vacuum.

Yama's eyes will turn yellow if its in rage mode.

After you have inflicted a set amount of damage to Yama, it will fall down and give you a chance to jump on top of it. This happens two or three times per battle, and each time you can carve Yama's head three times. This is a very good method of gathering Dragonwood, Dragonmoss, and Pokke Points in the form of Dragon Treasures!
