Yian Kut-Ku

Yian Kut-Ku is a small, avian, Bird-like wyvern. It is most notable for it's pink shell and large ears which splay open when angered. Kut-Kus are encountered fairly early on in the game(s) and are often the first wyvern that hunters will face. Yian Kut-Ku is native to the Swamp, Jungle, and Forest zones.

Most Monster Hunter Beginners have a lot of trouble with this wyvern. It's in fact the first wyvern faced in Monster Hunter. Take your time when fighting this wyvern; its weaker than you think.

I just faught the thing myself and it is easier than it seems. It might just take a little while. when you first find it after the video go for its legs with something heavy. I used a red stripe but any good old greatsword will do. keep hitting its legs and try to stay on its left so that you can avoid the tail whip( the kut-ku always spins to the right). eventually it will get pissed and charge you directly a few times then it will rise and fall about 3 times. on the 4th it will fly to a new area(make sure you have it paintballed or you'll have to search for it the hard way). When you find it wait for it to get ready to charge and lay the shock trap. it will get caught and stunned for a little while and you should deliver as many charge hits as you can. after that just keep beating it up till it dies.

The main weaknesses for the Yian Kut-Ku are: Water,Ice,Thunder so when against the Yian Kut-Ku try to use weapons in those elements

Tail Whip: The Kut-Ku turns, attacking with It's tail.
Peck: The Kut-Ku could either peck where it is, or can leap forward and peck.
Bite: The Kut-Ku turns while he bites, not straight foward.
Fire cloud spurt: The Kut-Ku "spits", throwing a fiery projectile.
Charge: The Kut-Ku runs forward, spitting "fire spit" on either side of him while he does.
Ground Scratch: The Kut-Ku scratches the ground, which only hurts when you are standing directly under him.
